Welcome back to Pet sacular—your go-to spot for honest, hands-on reviews of the pet gear that promises to make life a little easier for you & your furry companions. Today, we’re checking out the COMOMY 71″ Extra Tall Pet Gate for Cats. This pressure-mounted gate claims to combine serious height, a narrow bar design, & a double-locking system to keep your curious climbers in check. It’s built for areas between 29.5″ to 40.6″ wide, & it maxes out at a towering 71″ with three removable 15.7″ panels, all finished in sleek black. There’s also a small adjustable pet door, a 1.37″ gap between bars to keep even small pets contained, & a smart anti-stumble ramp to help you or your cart glide right through without tripping.

Out of the box, it felt solid, not flimsy like some budget gates. Installation was surprisingly quick—no tools, no drilling, just those pressure bolts & a bit of patience. I had it up in under 15 minutes solo. In everyday use, it held up well during hallway mayhem with two mischievous cats trying their best Houdini impersonations. The 71″ height is no joke—this thing is skyscraper tall compared to most gates on the market, & even our most determined jumper had to admit defeat. The walk-through feature is genuinely convenient, locking securely with a lift-and-pull mechanism that’s smooth for humans but frustratingly complex for paws. The small adjustable cat door was a handy touch for selectively allowing access to one pet while restricting another—worked great once we got the sizing just right.

On the pro side, it’s sturdy, tall enough for the sneakiest feline escape artist, & offers flexibility with removable panels. The ultra-narrow gaps between bars are excellent for safety—no heads stuck, no sneaking through. The anti-stumble ramp adds a subtle but practical bonus, especially when carrying groceries or pushing a vacuum. And the fact that you can pressure mount it means you’re not drilling into your walls—a win for renters or those who like their drywall intact.

But it’s not perfect. The width adjustment only goes to 40.6″, so if you’ve got wider archways, this won’t cut it. Also, while the locking mechanism is secure, it might be a tad tricky for folks with limited hand strength. The small pet door, although adjustable, takes a bit of trial & error to get just right, especially if you’re managing pets of different sizes. Lastly, being so tall, it does stand out visually—so if you’re after something discreet, this isn’t it.

In terms of value, you’re looking at a product that sits in the mid-to-upper price range for pet gates. Considering the height, dual locking, adjustable pet door, & tool-free install, it’s fair. You’re paying for sturdiness & safety—not cheap plastic or thin bars that bend after a week. Still, for the price, it would’ve been nice to include wall protectors or optional extensions for wider openings.

Compared to similar models like the Carlson Extra Tall Pet Gate or Regalo Easy Step, the COMOMY stands out for its extreme height & narrower gaps—both critical features for homes with agile or small pets. It doesn’t quite offer the same width range as some competitors, but it outperforms in preventing escape attempts.

The build quality feels durable. The metal frame doesn’t flex under pressure, & the powder-coated finish holds up well against paw scratches. While we haven’t tested it for years, early impressions suggest good longevity if handled with care—just don’t expect it to withstand full-on ramming from a big dog.

No interactions with customer support were needed, but the brand has a generally decent rep online—nothing outstanding, but no major red flags either.

If you’re on a tighter budget, the Regalo Extra Tall baby gate is a decent alternative. It’s not quite as tall & doesn’t have the same adjustable pet door, but it gets the job done for smaller cats in lower-threat environments. Just know that escape-prone pets might find it easier to outsmart.

So, final thoughts? The COMOMY 71″ Extra Tall Pet Gate nails it where it counts—height, security, & no-drill setup. It’s especially suited for homes with adventurous cats or even small dogs that think they run the place. It has its quirks—limited width range, a bit of a learning curve with the cat door—but it fulfills its promises. If you’re tired of leaping kittens or sneaky sliders giving you grief, this could be your peace of mind in gate form.
