Welcome back to Pet Sacular, your trusted source for the latest in pet products and home gadgets that can make life easier for both you and your furry friends. Today, we’re reviewing the Roku New Indoor Camera 2024 – a versatile wired security camera that also doubles as a pet monitor. In this review, we’ll take a look at what makes this product stand out, what works well, and where it may need improvement.
The Roku New Indoor Camera 2024 is designed for easy home monitoring with features like 1080p HD color night vision, motion and sound detection, and the ability to control it via the Roku Smart Home mobile app. It works seamlessly with Alexa and Google Assistant, providing hands-free functionality. This camera is sold as a 2-pack, ideal for those looking to monitor multiple rooms. The camera promises crisp, clear video quality, day or night, and allows you to view your space through your Roku TV, Roku player, or mobile app.
After testing the Roku Indoor Camera, setting it up was a breeze. Simply plug it in, connect it to your Wi-Fi, and it’s ready to go. The mobile app is intuitive, and we especially loved the ability to view the live stream directly from the Roku TV or player with just a push of a button. We tested the motion and sound detection in various scenarios, such as when our dog was barking or moving around the room. The camera responded quickly, sending notifications to our phone. The 1080p HD footage is impressive, with vibrant colors during the day and excellent night vision. However, we did notice a slight delay in motion detection notifications during busier times, like when there was a lot of movement in the room.
When it comes to the pros, the Roku Indoor Camera delivers on its promise of clear video quality. It offers impressive night vision, which is great for monitoring pets or kids during the night. The integration with Alexa and Google Assistant is a nice touch, allowing hands-free control of your home security setup. The mobile app is user-friendly, and the camera’s Wi-Fi 6 capability ensures a stable connection. On the downside, the wired setup might not be ideal for everyone, as it limits flexibility in placement. Additionally, while the motion and sound detection are mostly reliable, the slight delay in notifications could be a concern for those looking for instantaneous alerts.
So, is the Roku Indoor Camera worth its price? For its features and quality, yes. The 1080p HD video, easy app integration, and compatibility with Alexa and Google make it a solid choice for home monitoring. While it may not be the absolute fastest in terms of motion detection, it provides excellent value when considering the video quality, ease of use, and overall functionality.
Comparing it to similar products, such as the Wyze Cam V3 or the Blink Indoor Camera, the Roku Indoor Camera stands out with its seamless Roku integration and Wi-Fi 6 support. Wyze Cam V3 offers comparable video quality and features but lacks the TV integration that the Roku camera provides. Blink cameras, on the other hand, are more affordable, but the Roku camera’s superior night vision and integration with Roku products justify the higher price for those already invested in the Roku ecosystem.
The build quality is solid, with a modern, compact design. The camera feels sturdy, and the wire setup is clean, although some may prefer the flexibility of battery-powered models. As for longevity, since we’ve only been using the camera for a short period, we can’t speak to its long-term durability just yet, but given Roku’s reputation for reliable products, we expect it to last.
Regarding customer support, Roku is known for its efficient service, and while we didn’t have to interact with them for this product, their existing reputation suggests that users will receive solid support if needed.
If you’re looking for alternatives, the Wyze Cam V3 offers similar features at a lower price, though you’ll miss out on Roku’s smart home integration. The Blink Indoor Camera is another good budget option if you don’t need 1080p HD or color night vision.
To wrap things up, the Roku New Indoor Camera 2024 is a reliable, feature-packed security camera with excellent video quality, intuitive app integration, and solid performance. While the wired setup and slight delay in motion detection may not suit everyone, it’s a great choice for anyone already in the Roku ecosystem or looking for a camera that provides more than just basic monitoring. If you’re ready to make sure your home and pets are always within sight, this could be the right fit.
